Description

The State Partnership Board develops standards and procedures for state/NCATE partnership agreements. It is responsible for reviewing and approving applications from states wishing to enter into a partnership. This board is composed of no more than 15 members; two each represent teacher education, teachers, and professional specialty groups, and seven represent state and local policy makers. The information in parentheses gives the association which nominated the individual and the year that the term expires.

State Partnership Board Structure

Currently 15 members, consisting of:

  • two representatives each from the teacher, teacher education, and SPA quadrants
  • seven representatives from the policymakers quadrant
  • One public representative
  • One representative from AdvancED
 

Function of the State Partnership Board

  • Develops principles and procedures for State/NCATE partnership agreements
  • Applies principles and authorizes State/NCATE partnerships

Miscellanea

  • The SPB usually meets annually in the fall
  • The chair of the SPB is a representative of the policymakers quadrant
  • The SPB and SASB conduct formal and informal meetings together to better coordinate their respective work and joint work
