Held each fall and spring, NCATE and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) host this conference to assist institutions that are preparing for an NCATE accreditation review. The conference provides training on NCATE standards and procedures by NCATE leaders and teacher education faculty across the nation. Individuals who are directly involved in preparation for the accreditation review and those who are new to NCATE should attend. Major topics covered at the orientation will be in-depth coverage of NCATE’s six standards, NCATE’s expectations regarding candidate effects on P-12 student learning, the program review process, and candidate dispositions. It is a professional development experience. This is a time to learn from experts, share thoughts with colleagues, and discover what works with institutions. Participants join mentor groups for requesting, reflecting, and regrouping between sessions.
