February 26, 2009

Boyce Williams, NCATEBoyce C. Williams, Ph.D., Vice President, Institutional Relations at NCATE, received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters on May 10, 2009 from The Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. This is the sixth honorary doctorate that Boyce has received during her 16 year tenure at NCATE.

In addition to her responsibilities as Vice President for Institutional Relations at NCATE, from 2003 to 2006 Williams served as director of the USDOE-sponsored RFTEN Project, or Reading First Teacher Education Network, which brought professional development to faculty and instantiated key components of reading instruction at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges, and Hispanic-Serving Institutions. She also served as director of the foundation-supported Historically Black College and University Teacher Education Support Network (HBCUTSN) while at NCATE. The project helped increase the percent of HBCUs with accredited schools of education from 44 percent to 88 percent over a 10 year period. Congratulations, Boyce!
