Sharon P. Robinson, Chair of the NCATE Executive Board's Finance, Personnel and Membership Committee (FPM) has announced today the membership of the Search Committee to find the next President of NCATE.

The committee will be made up of the members of the FPM:

• Sharon P. Robinson, President and CEO, American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), Chair of Search Committee
• Reg Weaver, Chair of the Executive Board and President, National Education Association (NEA)
• Gene Wilhoit, Executive Director, Council of Chief State Schools Officers (CCSSO)
• Joseph S. Prus, Professor and Chair, Department of Psychology, Winthrop University, Rock Hill, South Carolina

and the Chairs of the three other NCATE Policy Boards:

• Deena Sue Fuller, Chair of the Unit Accreditation Board (UAB) and Director of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement, Tennessee State University
• Rick Melmer, Chair of the State Partnership Board (SPB) and Secretary, South Dakota Department of Educucation and Cultural Affairs
• Gene Martin, Chair of the Specialty Areas Studies Board (SASB) and Professor, Texas State University-San Marcos

Dr. Robinson also announced the selection of Michael Usdan of the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) as the committee's search consultant.* The Executive Board expects to have a new president in place by July 1, 2008. Details of the search will be announced soon.
