Going to Scale with PDSs ‘Going to scale’ is defined as creating sufficient numbers of PDSs to prepare all teacher candidates placed in a district, and to support the needs of new teachers in that district.
The strategy is targeted at providing professional clinical preparation and induction for new teachers in order to increase teacher quality and raise retention rates, particularly in low-performing schools. With the support of the Arthur Vining Davis Foundation, NCATE worked with three PDS partnerships in urban areas to explore this concept and develop models for how it might be achieved.
