It's All About Student Learning Assessing Teacher Candidates' Ability to Impact P-12 Students, (A.E. Wise, P. Ehrenberg and J. Leibbrand, eds.) provides practical assistance for institutions designing or revising assessment systems or individual assessments for use by units or programs. The publication includes performance assessments currently used by teacher preparation institutions and consortia (the Performance Assessment for California Teachers, the Renaissance Partnership, and the Teacher Quality Partnership in Ohio) to measure candidates’ ability to assess P-12 student learning, including challenges faced and lessons learned.

A variety of assessments are featured: program-specific; student teaching assessments; focused assessments, on a single P-12 student; examples of Teacher Work Sample methodology. Hilda Rosselli, Dean, School of Education at Western Oregon University contributes an opening essay on the current practice of assessment in schools, colleges, and departments of education. 220 pages.
